History

Fujime Tokihira, who returned from studying in the UK, is well versed in Eastern philosophy, and uses the Mizunara cask ageing process to form a unique whisky style. In 1967, the Fujime whisky brand was established in Koshu, Yamanashi Prefecture. Fujime-fuji 8 Vintage and Fujime-century have been released in recent years.

1600s

At the beginning of the 17th century,the ancestors of Fujime Tokihira were the first farmers to become wealthy in Koshu. Under the background of the shogunate system in the Edo period, they became an emerging class and made significant contributions to the establishment of the "Dojima Rice Club" in the fifteenth year of Hengbao.

1853

In 1853,Western whisky began to pour into Japan, and the local whisky trade developed unprecedentedly. The Fujime family started the whisky trade, and the development took shape.

1850s

In the 1850s,Fujime Tokihira was influenced by the trend of "investigate the things and extend to the utmost the knowledge" and traveled to European countries to study distillation technology.Combining the Japanese concept of conforming to nature and integrating into nature, he has formed a unique spirit-making philosophy of "things follow the truth".

1967

In 1967,Fujime Tokihira established the Fujime brand in Koshu, Yamanashi Prefecture, and built a distillery in the nearby Kawaguchi Valley (at the foot of Mount Fuji) to prepare the exclusive brand of whisky recipes. It uses pure natural super-soft water from Mount Fuji (hardness 38mg/L), traditional direct-fire heating distillation method, and local unique Mizunara wooden cask aging, which makes the product shine.

1976

In 1976,the first bottle of Fujime whisky was successfully blended. In pursuit of the quality of the spirit, Fujime Tokihira is obsessed with selecting high-quality water sources (after 2 years of monitoring, the water source was finally confirmed. After 9 years and thousands of preparations, he finally obtained 15 whiskies in 9 years).

1990

Around 1990,Japan’s economic bubble crisis broke out, and the Japanese government issued a reform of the spirits tax system. The distillery was severely hit and was forced to stop production. It had to sell high-age whisky to pay off its debts.

2001

The distillery reopened in 2001,To keep up with the trend of the times, the Fujime has updated its blended whisky formula with the times, and has continued to launch single Mizunara cask whisky!
